About

The 147.435 (“435”) repeater is famous for lively discussion about controversial subjects and issues of the day. We embrace the use of gutter parlance in conversations. 435 is a high-level “clear channel” repeater located on Santiago Peak (5,600 feet) in Southern California. The repeater reaches a population of roughly 20 million people within Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties. 435 can be used as far North as Santa Barbra county and Northern Mexico with a decent antenna and transmit power.

History

435 began its tumultuous life in 1962 on Mount Wilson as a creation of Bert Weiner K6OQK. 435 is the second oldest repeater in the Los Angeles area and one of the first FM amateur repeaters in the world. 435 is widely regarded as the most famous and notorious amateur radio repeater in the world with hundreds of users and thousands of listeners.

Burt has a great webpage telling the story of 435’s beginnings and early history, complete with pictures and videos:

http://www.435.org is another 435 website covering the late 1970s to 1990s. There’s a lot of good stuff there like: 435 history, 435ers calls and email addresses, old news letters, guestbook, a classic “435 Law”.

Bong hit gathering on air

Check in with the cannabis strain you are using that day. You don’t have to be a cannabis user to check in (many members don’t use canibis, but support that freedom). You can ask to be assigned a bong net number (BHN). Over 600 members and growing. Listened to by thousands around the world on radio frequency and internet feeds like Broadcastify. You might even receive a BHN token in the postal mail from Tammi.
