The Los Angeles 147.435 repeater (435) is famous for lively discussion on controversial subjects. Located in Southern California on Santiago Peak (5,600 feet), the repeater covers a population of about 20 Million people within Orange, Los Angeles, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties.
435 first went on the air in 1962, is the second oldest repeater in the Los Angeles area and one of the first FM amateur radio repeaters. Currently, 435 is widely regarded as the most famous amateur repeater in the world.
435 has had many owners over the years, but Burt Weiner K6OQK started it all in 1962. Burt has a great webpage telling the story of 435’s beginnings and early history, complete with pictures and videos: http://wa6tdd.tripod.com/WA6TDD-WR6ABE.htm
